New Wednesday Evening Elective - Begins August 11

Beginning Wednesday, August 11, we will offer another mid-week adult elective: a DVD-based study of Philip Yancy's book, What's So Amazing About Grace? This is a practical study of God's grace and how it is played out in our lives and relationships. The 13-week class will begin at 6:30pm and conclude at 7:30pm. More information later.

Scholarships

KCFC would like to award scholarships to our young people who are attending a Nazarene university. Limited funds are available. If you are interested in receiving a scholarship, please submit the following to Linda Wilkerson (email lwilkerson@kcfc.org) no later than August 31, 2010:

  • your name
  • name of Nazarene university you plan to attend
  • your student identification number

New Wednesday Evening Schedule (listed above)

As of Wednesday, August 11, all Wednesday evening ministries will begin at 6:30pm, preceded by Midweek Manna. This will allow the schedule to be standardized throughout the year and will accommodate families that need the programming to conclude by 7:30pm. The only variable in the schedule will be the season for Kaleidoscope Children's Choir and therefore, the start time for Midweek Manna. When KCC is practicing during the year, Midweek Manna will begin at 5:00pm. When there is no practice, the meal will begin at 5:30pm.

Faith Promise - Harmon & Cindy Schmelzenbach - Sept. 11-12, 2010

The Schmelzenbachs feel privileged to serve in the South Pacific as fourth generation Nazarene missionaries. Harmon’s responsibilities as Field Administrative Assistant offer him opportunity to minister in the countries of Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Samoa, Tonga and Fiji, where they are currently based. He and Cindy also coordinate Nazarene Maritime Ministries and Work & Witness across the South Pacific.

We are called to exalt the LORD in and area of the world where land is sprinkled as thousands of tiny islands across a vast ocean. Nazarene Maritime Ministries, with the FIJIBoat Project, has expanded greatly since it was launched in 2000. This is an exciting partnership with God as he parts the waters to make way for church planting, compassionate ministries, disaster relief, Jesus Film, discipleship, national leadership development, transportation solutions and ultimately... whatever it takes to keep moving forward aggressively with the Great Commission.

Quilting Class Resumes

The quilting class resumes July 19, and meets every Monday from noon to 8:30pm in room 158. Classes are FREE and open to women of all ages. Prayer serves as the bond to encourage participants. Food, fellowship and a happy creative time is what makes this ministry special. For more information, contact Jeannette Wienecke, 816-663-7484.

New Children's Ministry Check In/Out Procedure

On Sunday, August 15, 2010, elementary age children will be added to the check in/out system. This is another phase in Keeping Our Kids Safe program. All children nursery-age through 6th grade must be checked in and out of the Children's Department. We would like all parents and children to stop by the current check in station outside the Westside room to have their pictures taken, and to be registered in the system. Someone will be there throughout the morning to take pictures and to assist you. Persons authorized to check your child in or out will need to be photographed as well. An email will be sent to parents during upcoming weeks, detailing the procedure.

Counseling Offered

Individual, marital, and family counseling services continue to be available on Tuesdays. For scheduling, call Linda Wilkerson in the church office (816.942.9022). Services are provided by Pamela J. McKamie, M.A., PLPC. Sessions are available at a reduced rate. Limited times available.
