Volunteer Hall of Fame

Kathie Wagner
June 27, 2010

"I would like to take this opportunity to honor and personally thank Kathie Wagner who is an invaluable part of the choir ministry here at First Church. For the better part of the last decade, Kathie has been a faithful choir member. Her weekly commitment to memorize her choir music and really internalize what she sings is unmatched and she spends much time outside of our weekly rehearsals working to learn her music thoroughly.

Beyond her more "up-front" participation in choir, Kathie works behind the scenes each week to organize all of printed music that our choir uses each week. On Wednesdays, she leaves her job early (typically around 4 PM) to help prepare music and materials needed for the midweek choir rehearsals. Then, after every Sunday morning service, she organizes all the music we have used that week and files it away again. It may not sound like much, but her efforts keep us all organized, save me valuable time and help keep everything running along smoothly. It is a thankless job and one she does as a service to her choir family, her church, and ultimately her Lord. Her sweet spirit and willingness to serve wherever she can is the icing on the cake!

Thanks Kathie, for all you do to help augment the choir ministry at KC First Church!" --Pastor Roger

Kansas City First Church is blessed to have many people who volunteer their skills and abilities. The Volunteer Hall of Fame has been created to recognize, encourage, and affirm the dozens of volunteers who faithfully give of their time, talent, and energy to carry out our mission.

The volunteers at KC First Church work tirelessly behind the scenes in a multitude of functions, rarely in the public eye, frequently with no recognition, and all too often without receiving the appropriate and well-deserved thanks. Yet, the services and functions they perform make a significant contribution to the smooth and efficient operation of the church on a daily basis, and help provide a genuine worship experience every Sunday.

This "Volunteer Hall of Fame" provides the opportunity for the entire church body to publicly express our deep gratitude to these committed individuals who have proven themselves to be a vessel of honor, and have given their time, talent, and energy as an act of worship.
