Anne’s family moved from Boston to Kansas City in 2002 when her husband joined the NTS faculty. They have been involved at KCFC in a variety of ways and Anne’s current role taps into her passions for pastoral care with visitation and other expressions of care. She also teaches the Crusaders Sunday School class.
Raised in a God-honoring home, Anne’s parents fled Estonia as teenagers during WWII and eventually settled in New York state. Anne grew up on the shores of Lake Erie with Estonian as her first language. (You might overhear her speaking it with her mother who joined their home in 2011. The Estonian pronunciation of Anne sounds like “UN-eh.”)
Anne was introduced to a personal relationship with Christ through the loving influence of an aunt who also encouraged her to attend a Christian college. At Eastern Nazarene College (Quincy, MA), she began a discipleship journey through small group Bible studies, chapels and worship. While she majored in Modern Languages (German and French) and Psychology, key mentors inspired her to train as a counselor. She graduated from Fuller Theological Seminary with an MA in Marriage and Family Ministry. Still a student, she takes one course at a time toward her NTS MDiv.
Anne and Doug were married in May, 1981. In addition to ministry in Los Angeles, in Northern California and at ENC, they served the denomination’s Youth in Mission program in South Korea and Guam. Traveling is something they continue to enjoy. Their family includes three delightful and fascinating young adults: Alex lives in Boston, Lia in San Diego and Elena, a senior at Northwest Nazarene University.
